Tungsten Carbide has become a very popular material in bridal jewelry, due to its extreme hardness and high resistance to scratching. Tungsten is roughly 10x harder than 18K gold (gold being the traditional material of wedding bands), 5 times harder than steel, or about 4x as hard as titanium. Tungsten Carbide measures between an 8 and a 9 on the mohs hardness scale (Comparing to a diamond, which is a 10 and the hardest material available)
